Home Assignment Schedule!
We have many things to complete as we prepare to come to the US for Home Assignment and vacation time with family and friends. Kevin has been madly working on the hybrid classrooms at APNTS. Classes have begun, and students have the choice to meet in person or online. The classrooms are fitted with camera, special microphones and large TV screens that will enable good classroom conversation. We are thankful for all who have put this together. He has also been working on bunkbed repairs and some electrical issues at Shechem also. I am madly trying to get Alabaster and Mission Project applications completed for the Field Office and Student Work assignments and office preparations made for the Seminary.
As you can see by the number of blog posts this year, it can be hard to take the time to think about our ministry and put together the information in a meaningful way for those who follow our story. Home Assignment is a “time out” from our ministry responsibilities to focus on just these things. We ask ourselves things like:
“What are the important things I want to share about?”
Out of the many things we have been able to partner in this year, we will choose those things that catch our excitement and provide hope and growth for the future. This will include, of course, Stories from Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APNTS), Shechem Children’s Home, Stories from Work & Witness, and especially new partnerships between Alabaster Funds – Work & Witness – Nazarene Youth International (NYI) – Engaging and Equipping. I bet you can’t wait to hear about that collaboration. We also have some exciting new information about our personal missionary journey as in October we will become Global Missionaries.
“How did I feel about the changes, difficulties and exciting things that happened in our ministry?”
Sometime there is change, or sometimes difficulties in the things we do. That can leave us working out our feelings, figuring things out. I know all of us have some baggage from the past few years. Processing these things can help us move forward with strength and confidence. I hope that our excitement about new partnerships and opportunities will be exciting for you also!
How will we make personal, in-person, fellowship meaningful during our time at home?
We enjoy coming home annually even though it means a quick trip. This allows us time to connect with our children, grandchildren, our parents (Jim and Ava and Louise have had their ups and downs this year and we are thankful to have the promise of more time to love on them), our family and the many friends who follow our story. We always say our biggest sacrifice is missing out on life with our family and friends. So we will intentionally live in the moments of being in person with each other. We will purposefully connect in the park or a restaurant or living room with any who want to hear our stories. We will speak in 13 churches and other informal meetings. As crazy as it sounds to those who have known us over the years, we have really begun to love to talk about what we do and to hear about what others are up to. So we are excited to see you! Please email us or message us on fb. We would love to connect. We will be in the LA area from October 4-19. We are already adding visits to our calendar.
We are still looking for a car to borrow while we are in California October 4-19. If anyone has one that is available, please let us know!
Let’s get together!
We are so excited to share our HA schedule with you!
